West Seattle Soccer Fields Begin Final Conversion to Synthetic Turf
December 29, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
One of the main reasons that more parks, athletic fields and schools are switching from natural grass to synthetic turf is the cost. Artificial grass prices have never been lower, and installation is more affordable than ever. When you also take into consideration the additional long-term artificial grass cost benefits of reduced maintenance and longer-lasting fields, it makes sense for organizations to make the switch.
A good example is the Walt Hundley Playfield in Seattle’s High Point district. The field is one of the only two lighted dirt fields in Seattle; however, that will change thanks to a city grant which will allow officials to install a new fake lawn. The synthetic turf fields will be used for soccer, ball sports and other activities. According to West Seattle Soccer Club leader Tim McMonigle, the synthetic field will help eliminate the messy field conditions and postponed matches which have plagued events at the Walt Hundley Playfield in recent years.
