China says Indian prime minister to visit next week

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China next week, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, his first trip to India's northern neighbor since being elected last year. Modi will be in China from May 14-16, the ministry said in a brief statement. China and India have growing commercial links and deep historical ties, but their recent history has been overshadowed by suspicion and the two have yet to sort out a festering border dispute.

IBM dismisses Forbes report of massive layoffs

(Reuters) – IBM dismissed on Monday a Forbes magazine report claiming the technology firm is preparing to cut about 26 percent of its workforce. A report last Thursday on Forbes' website by pseudonymous Silicon Valley technology gossip columnist Robert Cringely said IBM planned to lay off 26 percent of its global workforce, or as many as 112,000 employees. U.S. airline flights land in Atlanta after bomb threats

Bomb threats against two U.S. airline flights on Saturday prompted North American air defense fighter planes to scramble to accompany them to their destination in Atlanta, an airport spokesman said. FBI says Sony hackers ‘got sloppy,’ posted from North Korea addresses

Sony unveils web-based TV service PlayStation Vue

(Reuters) – Sony Network Entertainment International LLC, a unit of Sony Corp of America, unveiled a new cloud-based TV service, PlayStation Vue, expected to be commercially launched during the first quarter of 2015. The web-based television service allows users to access live TV and on-demand content without a cable or satellite service, the company said. The service offers catch-up and on-demand TV.

Facebook launches Ebola charity donation button

(Reuters) – Facebook Inc said users would now have option to donate directly to various Ebola relief charities through a button at the top of their News Feeds. Facebook users can donate to three charities – International Medical Corps, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Save the Children – starting today, the company said on its website on Thursday. The social media company is also donating 100 terminals to provide internet and voice-calling access for aid workers to Ebola-hit areas such as Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
